Young Serafina ( May 2010) Private Collection

I finished this portrait of my grandmother days before she passed away. I showed it to her but, even if her eyes were open, she was already leaving us slowly. I'd like to think she actually saw it and that it gave her peace and made her feel loved. It depicts a young Serafina, still living in Sicily, Italy, always bright and happy, with an impressive inner beauty. For many years it would be the last work I completed, until I slowly jumped back to my paintings.
